Information For Job Candidates With Camp-Aged Children
Description For Parents:
As a ranch camp, we offer a wide array of riding opportunities. Campers of all skill levels can choose to hone their horsemanship and gymkhana skills in our rodeo arena with experienced riding teachers. They will then get the chance to showcase their skills each Sunday afternoon in the camp rodeo! We also offer the unique opportunity of exploring the wilderness from the saddle. Our packtrips are an authentic experience with mulestrings, trail cooks, and professional outfitters. Campers get the chance to ride deep into the heart of the backcountry and explore places that few people will ever get to see.
Featured Activities for Campers:
Our in-camp program offers a unique combination of freedom and variety. Campers are separated into separate Adventure Groups (based on age & experience). Cabins and trips are made up of campers of the same age and experience at TVRC. While in camp, however, TVRC campers are given the freedom to choose their activities. Each Adventure Group program has a particular emphasis which allows every child to sample every activity offered at camp while also choosing to pursue what he or she is most interested in. Campers gather at the activity fence each morning and afternoon and are able to choose between activities such as trail rides, archery, riflery, art, lapidary, and our naturalist program, Discovery. With the help of our dedicated and experienced staff, your child will have the opportunity to tie his or her own flies through our fishing program, advance across levels in target sports, polish a stone into a piece of jewelry, hike to view ancient petroglyphs, and wrangle our herd of horses at sunset.
Other Camper Activities:
With over 65 years of operation, we have built a strong relationship with Grand Teton National Park and the U.S. Forest Service that has allowed us to create a backpacking program with access to spectacular country. TVRC trips not only expose campers to majestic mountains, they instill a strong sense of respect and stewardship for the land. Kids come away from trips able to identify native wildflowers, cook a healthy meal over a gas stove, and navigate with a map and compass. Most importantly, campers learn how to communicate with and depend on their peers in a small group. Whether they are encouraging one another up the last hundred feet of a summit, setting up camp for the night, or filling up water bottles for the day’s hike, campers learn through firsthand experience the meaning of responsibility and teamwork on TVRC backpacks
