Description For Prospective Staff:
Select The Camp That Selects The Best Staff!...Known for having the
highest standards of staff selection in camping, we beleive it is the
PEOPLE who make Camp Wayne for Girls "A Nice People Place." Each
summer the top 50-55 recruits (less than 10% of applicants) come
together to create a mature, caring, positive and enthusiastic group
of counselors in a beautiful and pleasant working environment.
Established in 1921 and nestled in the corner of beautiful
northeastern Pennsylvania (just 3 hours from NYC), Camp Wayne is
a "brother-sister" camp, set upon 450 acres of groomed campus areas,
open fields, lush forests and a magnificent 95 acre spring fed lake.
Our brother camp, Camp Wayne for Boys, is located at the opposite end
of the lake.
Camp Wayne offers a versatile, "all-around" program for campers aged
6-16. They will participate in activities including team and
individual sports, waterfront, tennis, gymnastics, dance and
cheerleading, drama, fine arts, nature and camping including a high
and low ropes course, as well as our unique and exciting evening
activities and special events.
We consider the selection of our counselors to be our most important
responsibility, that's why we spend hundreds of hours each year
recruiting and interviewing. Our counselors must have completed one
year of college and ABSOLUTELY LOVE CHILDREN! They must also be
ready for a summer they will never forget.
